Judo Fitness & Competition Training

Class Focuses on stretching, Balance, and coordination development. For our competitors, we focus on the development of competition techniques, stamina/strength training, and randori training.

Teen & Adult Judo Classes (Ages 13 and Up)

Tachi Waza Training (Throwing & Take-downs) 

MOJ teaches both a Beginning and Advanced Judo students class in the Throwing & Falling techniques of Kodokan Judo, starting from age 13 and up. 

​

 Beginner's Class: This Class focuses on basics: how to fall, how to move, some basic throws, how to set-up a throw.

​

Advanced Judo: This class focuses on learning more sophisticated throwing techniques, different combinations and entry methods for throws, counter techniques for throws, take-downs, & basic and advanced gripping methods for controlling your opponent in the standing position. We also teach our students the rules of modern Olympic Sport Judo, and the focus on Randori (fighting) is more intense than in the Beginner's Class. Special topic classes are also given that highlight throwing techniques and take-downs from other Combat Sports such as Sambo and Wrestling.

Judo Fitness & Competition Training  

​

This training is designed to improve your strength, speed, and flexibility through aerobic and anaerobic training exercises. We use movements drills that improve overall coordination and conditioning, and also help to build motor skills. For our Judo competitors, we emphasize the concept of maximizing your performance in competition environment. This includes increasing speed, strength, and agility. For our recreational student we focus on helping you get yourself in the best shape possible for your health and wellbeing. 

Ne Waza Training
(Ground Fighting)
 

MOJ teaches both a Beginning and Advanced Judo students the forms of Grappling techniques of Kodokan Judo, starting ages 13 and up. 

​

 Beginner's Class: focuses on basics: how to move on the ground, offensive and defensive movements; how to apply basic controlling techniques and pins, and how to escape pins; and how to safely perform basic chokes and arm locking techniques.

​

Advanced Judo: This class focuses on learning more sophisticated holding and submission techniques. Emphasis is on how to enter ground techniques from different angles; strategies for controlling your opponent from the standing position and taking them down into a ground technique. Also studied is how to escape pins and submission techniques. We also teach our students the rules of modern Olympic Sport Judo, and the focus on Randori (fighting) is greater than in the Beginner's Class. Special Topic classes are offered that highlight grappling moves used in other Combat Sports such as Sambo, Wrestling, and BJJ.

Practical Self Defense Training

​

This training is designed for those interested in learning a tried and proven system of Self Defense that incorporates movements from Judo, Aiki Jujutsu, Aikido, Karate, Muay Thai, & Boxing. Emphasis on evasion and defensive body movements, escapes from holds, and simple and easily applied striking techniques. The training also emphasizes heightened awareness of one's surroundings, and learning to maintain your composure in a stressful situation.

MOJ has hosted numerous training camps for both recreational and elite Judo competitors. Attending our camps have been US Olympic Team members and coaches, US National Team members, national champions from Europe, Japan, South America, and the Middle East. Our goal is to help improve the level of Judo in the Central Florida area, and also to give access to up and coming US Junior, Senior, & Veteran  competitors to top level coaches, instructors, & training.
